Schedule: Monday-Friday, shifts start at 6:00am. You can pick between 8 hours or 10 hours shifts. Call is required.

Surgical technologists are important members of our perioperative care team. At UAB St. Vincent's, surgical techs maintain and prepare instrumentation and equipment, helping cases run efficiently and allowing us to provide the highest quality of care. You'll have a unique opportunity to support our nationally recognized orthopaedic and sports medicine doctors on a variety of cases, including total and partial joint replacement, hand and spine surgery, and ankle and foot reconstruction. In more than 15 operating room suites, our care team provides personalized surgical care to improve a patient's quality of life and minimize recovery time. This position offers two schedule options - five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts - with limited weekend and holiday on-call responsibilities.

What You Will Do:

Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.

Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instruments counts throughout procedures.
Assist surgeons provision of hemostasis during surgery.
What You Will Need:

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's
degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
